The Micro-Tec DS-150 low speed precision diamond sawis a valuable tool for cutting a wide variety of materials and composites. This precision saw is useful for cutting samples, embeddings and for making cross sections. The Micro-Tec DS-150 low speed precision diamond saw enables precise and deformation-free cutting of hard and brittle materials, fragile materials, soft materials and composite materials with reduced or low surface deformation. The wide selection of sample holders enables cutting virtually any sample shape. Together with mult-axis movements of the cutting arm holder precise thickness of the sample and cutting angle can be selected with great precision.
The samples are mounted on a sample holder which is attached to the front of the cutting arm. The load on the cutting wheel can be adjusted by adding the appropriate weight on the cutting arm and adjusting the counterbalancing weight. The sample position is selected by moving the cutting arm to the desired position and can be precisely adjusted (or precise thickness selected) by adjusting the micrometer. The auto shut-off switch is located at the back with an adjustable screw which can be adjusted depending on blade diameter and cutting thickness. The cutting speed can be adjusted to achieve optimum and deformation-free cutting whilst avoiding loading the cutting blade.
The Micro-Tec DS-150 precision low speed diamond has been designed to use diamond blades (sintered diamond), silicon-carbide and Al2O3 blades. The diamond blades are used for many applications including hard and brittle materials, ceramics and composites. The SiC and AlsO3 blades can be used for ferrous and non-ferrous softer metals.
As cutting coolant we suggest to use an oil-based coolant or an W10-30 grade motor oil. When oil based coolant is not permitted, a waterbased coolant can be used, but the instrument should be dried to avoid corrosion. For cutting porous and/or water soluble samples we suggest using isopropanol as cutting fluid (in a fume hood and regularly adding isopropanol due the high evaporation rate.

The Micro-Tec DS-155 90 degrees bracket has been designed to make use of the wide selection of compatible sample holders for the Micro-Tec DS-150 diamond saw. The Micro-Tec DS-155 bracket inclueds a dovetail for quick connection to the cutting arm and an M4 screw to connect a wide selection of sample holders. This is also compatible with other brands of diamond saws such as the SYJ-150, SYJ-160, Smartcut 4005
