Cressington sputter and carbon coating systems
The Cressington sputter and carbon coating systems have been developed specifically for EM applications. They are all dedicated coating systems, either for sputtering or carbon evaporation to prevent any cross-contamination by different processes. All Cressington coaters comprise excellent coating quality, compact desktop systems, ease of use, direct parameter control, quick pump down, short cycle times, innovative feedback sensing and exceptional build quality. Micro to Nano is authorized distributor of the Cressington coating systems for sales, support, replacement parts and consumables. Our team has over 30 years’ experience with coating systems for SEM and EDX/WDX system.
Cressington 108 Family for standard SEM/EDX applications
The Cressington 108 sputter coaters are used for coating non-conductive SEM samples with gold, platinum, palladium or gold/palladium. For special applications, silver, copper or nickel can be used. They include an effective cool planar magnetron sputter head with vacuum-independent current control. The conductive coating greatly improves image quality of SEM images produced with secondary electrons to show the morphology of the sample surface. The 108 sputter coaters include precise vacuum control with a high precision needle valve. Available as manual and automatic sputter coaters. The 108auto includes both manuals and automatic operations, where the automatic mode performs the complete coating cycle.
Cressington 108carbon coaters
The Cressington 108carbon coaters are used for coating non-conductive SEM sample with a conductive layer of carbon. The 108carbon coaters mainly used carbon rods. The carbon coating is transparent for X-rays and higher energy electrons and is mainly used for analytical applications such as EDX analysis and backscatter electron imaging to visualize material contrast. The 108Carbon/A allows for both manual and automatic operation and uses a dual step profiled carbon rod for precise and reproducible coatings. Optionally available is a carbon fiber source which utilizes the same evaporation power supply as for the carbon rods.
Cressington 208HR for high resolution FESEM imaging
The Cressington 208HRD turbo sputter coater has been specifically developed for ultra fine grain coatings with Iridium, Platinum/Palladium, Chromium, Tungsten and other target materials. The system included a high vacuum turbo pump and an oil-free diaphragm pump. The 208HRD also included the effective motorized Rotary-Planetary-Tilting (R-P-T)
Stage and the MTM-20 thickness controller.
This 208HRD turbo sputter coater offers real solutions for coating difficult samples for FE-SEM. In order to minimize the effects of grain size, the 208HRD offers a full range of coatings materials and give unprecedented control over thickness and coating conditions. The wide range of operating pressures combined with the R-P-T stage allows for precise control of uniformity and conformity of the coating. It is a truly versatile high resolution coater and at the same time a highly productive one too.
The Cressington 208Carbon turbo carbon coater for FESEM, TEM, EDX/WDX, EBSD, FIB and Microprobes.
The Cressington 208Carbon turbo carbon coater is a compact desktop high vacuum carbon evaporation system specially developed for TEM, FE-SEM, EBSD and microprobe applications. The 208Carbon allows for both manual and automatic operation and uses a dual step profiled carbon rods for precise and reproducible coatings. Optionally available is a carbon fiber source which utilizes the same evaporation power supply as for the carbon rods. The turbo pump on the 150mm diameter chamber gives very rapid pump down. The modular design allows for enhancing the 208Carbon with motorized rotary-tilting stages for increased uniformity and a precise MTM-10 thickness monitor system to achieve reproducible result.
Cressington MTM thickness monitor systems
To enable reproducible and consistent coating quality, Cressington has developed the high resolution MTM thickness monitor systems with a thickness resolution of 0.1nm for Carbon.
They are low cost and compact and are compatible with all Cressington 108 and 208 coating systems. They are particularly useful to determine the coating thickness for quantitative analysis and for setting up the coating parameters to achieve reproducible coating thickness. The MTM-20 system include a control function for the 108auto and 208 sputter coaters which terminated the coating cycles once the desired thickness has been reached.
